What's the story? - Richard was inspired by the simplicity of the RNLI lifeguard station at Alum Chine beach. The exceptionally clean, sandy beach away from the hustle and bustle of central Bournemouth lends itself to the overall simplicity of the painting allowing the viewer to create their own narrative.
Artist Richard Watkin paints with acrylics in a simple graphical style, his latest nostalgic retro collection demonstrates his love of 1930s and 1940s style and features locations, architecture and retro transport, some real, some imagined creating a stylized, idyllic aesthetic.
