Portland Lighthouse Dorset Original Painting

Sizes

£300.00

The first painting of a new more contemporary collection using a softer, muted colour palette along with Richards signature bold colours.

What's the Story? - After a visit to Portland when the winter sunshine cast unusual shadows Richard decided to paint a more dreamlike, stylized version of the Portland Bill Lighthouse. The painting uses tones of soft pink for the clouds with glowing white borders. Blues are used for shadows instead of a more usual grey, the overall impression has an idyllic, fanciful more dreamy, contemporary quality.

Artist Richard Watkin paints the evocative locations and landscapes of Dorset from the beaches and towns of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch to the dramatic Jurassic Coastline and picturesque Purbeck villages. His work has a bold graphical style and evoke a sense of nostalgia.

Richard paints with acrylics on a linen canvas and this piece is 50cm x 70cm. Varnished and ready to hang the painting wraps around the side/edge of the canvas therefore framing is optional. The painting is signed and dated by Richard.
