Fine art print of the original painting of Boscombe Pier. Part of the travel print collection by Dorset artist Richard Watkin. Printed on quality 315gsm textured cotton paper available in A4, A3 and A2 sizes which fit 'off the shelf' frames. All the prints are signed by the artist.
What's the story? - Richard was inspired by the modernist 1950's architecture of Boscombe Pier and decided to paint it in a graphical, simplistic style. The pier, like most piers, was partially demolished during World War II to combat the threat of invasion. During the revitalisation of the British Seaside in the post war years the borough architect John Burton designed the entrance which was Grade Listed in 2004.
Artist Richard Watkin paints the evocative locations and landscapes of Dorset from the beaches and towns of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch to the dramatic Jurassic Coastline and picturesque Purbeck villages. He paints with acrylics in a bold graphical style, his travel print collection evokes a sense of nostalgia, a time when the pace of life was slower and the sun was always shinning!
