What's the story? - On a trip to Wilton to get some inspiration for a new painting. We were rather taken aback to discover an Italianate Church, a slice of Italy in the middle of Wilton! The architecture was amazing and perfect for a painting. Back in the studio Richard settled on a Fordson 8 Van, the colour was perfect and it had a rather comforting, friendly and familiar feel about it. In fact the familiarity was so strong that it brought back a long forgotten memory of Richard’s Dad having the exact van in the 1950’s with a clip-on sign on the side advertising the families toy shop. The sign now takes pride of place in our kitchen. We contacted the owner of the image who had restored the van about 10 years ago and he gave Richard permission to use it.

What's the story? - We had lots of requests for a painting of Downton after taking part in the villages Cuckoo Fair. Richard knew he had to include a cuckoo in the painting as traditionally the arrival of the cuckoo marked the onset of good weather, and the first year we...
What's the story? - Featuring the Cathedral is an obvious choice for a painting of Salisbury. Less obvious is the Spitfire, however in 1940 the town became a major centre for manufacturing Spitfires, hidden in sheds, garages, back gardens, a bus depot and a hotel. With a workforce mainly made up...
What's the story? - When the children were small we often visited the park at Fordingbridge, the kids loved paddling in the pool and playing on the swings whilst us Mums tried to protect them from the rather ferocious resident swan! The painting depicts the view of the River Avon looking...
