Nostalgic art that looks right at home

Artist Richard Watkin paints with acrylics in a bold graphical style from his studio in the Dorset countryside. His art evokes a sense of nostalgia, a time when the pace of life was slower and the sun was always shinning. His travel print collection, influenced by vintage British Rail travel posters, features the evocative locations and landscapes of Dorset from the beaches and towns of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch to the dramatic Jurassic Coastline and picturesque Purbeck villages.

Our fine art prints are printed by us at Watkin Art Headquarters (our house) on 315gsm textured 100% cotton matt fine art paper with pigment based inks. Each hand signed print shows the imperfect texture of the linen canvas Richard used for his painting, the brush strokes, the highlights and lowlights - after all nothing in life is perfect and we prefer things that way!

How Watkin Art create prints from original paintings

All our prints are created from Richard's original paintings and not computer generated, and we do the fine art prints ourselves from our Dorset home making sure we produce a perfect print every time.

Meet Richard and Judi - the Watkin Art Team

Artist Richard Watkin and his wife Judi work in their studio at the bottom of the garden in the Dorset countryside. Rich is the artist and talent behind the whole operation and Judi is the driving force (aka slave driver) and spokesperson.

What some of our customers say

We were stunned when we opened our order, very happy with all of the prints. Really good to see the detail and love the quality, variety and choice of colours. You've got a great talent! Excellent packaging and service, much appreciated.

Beautiful work turned into fantastic quality prints. The depth of colour is unbelievable and the quality of the images is just amazing, you can even see the texture of the linen canvas. Not forgetting the fantastic customer service from Judi too.

Thank you for the Mudeford print. My parents used to take my brother and I every year and we stayed in a beach hut. I took my own children this weekend to visit (all hugely unchanged!) and your picture is the perfect reminder of somewhere special.

The West Bay print was purchased as a gift for my Aunt and Uncles 50th wedding anniversary as they honeymooned in West Bay. The print looked fab framed and they were absolutely delighted with it.

We are so lucky to have the oringal of Hengistbury Head with boat, absolutely love the colours and detail. Picked it up with some further prints at one of Richard and Judi’s open house days, a bonus to also meet a lovely couple and visit Richards studio.

The painting of Worth Matravers and Square & Compass pub brings back so many happy, peaceful memories that I have had in this beautiful location. The colours have captured this iconic place perfectly. Wonderful.

Great service. Many thanks for the prints which i am sure my husband will really appreciate (it's his birthday next week). A great service! Thanks again - I really like the personal touches and the lovely local scenes.
